PROMISED LAND / SUMMER SHOW - Maki Ohkojima, Yuko Oda, Hiroshi Tachibana, Kazuhito Tanaka

Maki Fine Arts is pleased to present new works of four emerging artists in "Promised Land/Summer Show", opening July 22, 2011. This exhibition features new paintings, drawings, and photography by up and coming artists Maki Ohkojima, Yuko Oda and Hiroshi Tachibana, Kazuhito Tanaka, who's works hold much promise in today's art world.

[Maki Ohkojima]
Maki Ohkojima was born in 1987 Tokyo. In 2011, she graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design,M.A, Department of Painting. In 2010, she participated in the solo show "Orange Moon and Light Blue Sun" at Tokyo Wondersite Hongo, and in 2011, she participated in 3331 Art Chiyoda group exhibition, "The Power of a painting". Ohkojima's artworks are inspired by life habits of particular regions, and her works on paper weave in stories influenced by folklore, climate and religion.

[Yuko Oda]
Yuko Oda was born in Tokyo, 1975. In 2002, she graduated with an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Her works are inspired by observations of nature, drawing from a variety of forms ranging from galaxies to plants. Her mediums range from drawings, moving imagery, as well as sculpture. Currently, Oda lives and works in New York as an artist, and teaches fine art at the New York Institute of Technology. In the digital media conference SIGGRAPH Asia 2009, she served as Art Gallery Chair.

[Hiroshi Tachibana]
Hiroshi Tachibana was born in Hyogo in 1970. In 2001, he received his MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College, and has been living and working in New York ever since. Tachibana specializes in painting. His work pays close attention to the possibilities behind the medium of paint and abstract expressionism.

[Kazuhito Tanaka]
Kazuhito Tanaka was born in Saitama in 1973. He graduated from 2004 from the School of Visual Arts. In 2011, he was awarded the Tokyo Frontline Photo Award. He specializes in Photography, pushing the boundaries between the abstract and the representational. Tanaka currently works and lives in Kyoto.
